--Alameda is reporting oil on the beach with oil coated birds washing up on shorelines.
-Still waiting on info relating to the impact of the spill and how many gallons of bunker fuel is in the bay?
--Latest estimates indicate 100-200 gallons?

-Volunteer teams are stuffing numerous hair booms this weekend. Please send in your nylons or stocking (clean or washed). It’s ok if the stockings have runs in them, according to Matter of Trust’s Lisa Gautier, they will double them up. Please send your nylons this week through November 8, 2009 to:

BP Seeks to Charge Clean-Up Crews for Recovered Oil

I contacted BP over a week ago but got no real response. Anyway, here is the description of this basic idea.
Requirements:
1. A plug should be easy to manufacture, easy to deliver and easy to insert, however should be hard to get out (has to get stuck in the pipe to do its work)
2. Use the pressure from the oil field itself to block the pipe on the inside i.e. use the pressure to our advantage.
What can match such requirements? Inflatable balloon-plug that is small enough before being inflated and can be easily delivered and inserted inside the pipe and by being inflated it will block the passage of oil, it can look like a balloon in the form of a ball or better yet in the shape of a sausage to have more surface friction with the pipe. The water is the first candidate as it is in abundance around and does not need to be brought from somewhere else and can be pumped into that plug via the hose, then inflated and the pressure from oil pipe will try to push it out and plug the exit on the inside.
This should be at least looked at by BP engineers as I believe it is feasible and can be done with less efforts and money. Mud or concrete by itself will be just pushed out the pipe…BP is wrong with this approach, however with the plug I described AND the mud better yet concrete behind it MIGHT Work…The concrete by itself will just be dispersed and pushed out by oil pressure flow; however if poured into an elastic vessel (which I call here an inflatable plug) instead of water may again work much better and block the passage. Adding stoppers (wedges or cross sectional bars via small holes drilled) can help the cause…NOTE: any change in diameter of the pipe will be a huge advantage as the plug will simply get stuck in a narrower section…
